FCAT Retakers

If you must retake the FCAT because you did not pass it as a 10th grader there is some important information for you to know.
  1. The FCAT retake this year is scheduled sometime between October 10 and October 21.
  2. Free tutoring is available on campus
    • Math Tutoring - Mondays and Wednesdays 2:40 - 4:00 in Room 225
    • ACT Prep - Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:40 - 4:00 in Room 131
  3. There are two online resources that students may use to prepare
    • FCAT Explorer - FCATexplorer.com - At the top right, use the Sign-In Name which will be your last name and first initial (no space). For example, if you are Robert Smith, you would type in smithr. Your password will be 06 followed by the first 4 digits of your last name, 2 digit birth month, and 2 digit birth date. If Robert Smith was born on January 3rd, his password would be 06smit0103. Check to see if your name and school matches when you get in. If not, sign out and try this: some passwords will be followed by numbers like 01 or 02 since some students have similar Sign-In names.  If you still cannot get in, inform your teacher or see Ms. Shaw in room 241. New students need to be entered. Any teacher or Ms. Shaw can enroll a new student or check a password. Then click on Sign In.
    • FOCUS - focus.florida-achieves.com - Use the same sign-in and password as FCAT Explorer.
  4. You should download the Math Countdown Grade 10 worksheets. Answer keys are included at the end of each week.

Internet Usage Prediction?

In today's lesson we examined a real-life application of exponential growth, predicting internet usage.
In the example, the prediction was that by 2016 there would be 6 billion internet users.
This was based on a growth rate of 19.5%.

What is the current growth rate of internet usage?
Does 6 billion internet users by 2016 seem reasonable?
